ENDORSEMENTS
Adam Schiff
for U.S. Senate
Adam Schiff is endorsed by the International Association of Fire Fighters following his longtime advocacy for firefighters and his strong record of getting things done on our behalf.
Adam Schiff has fought for better safety standards, benefits, health care, and economic stability. He has been there on the picket lines as we’ve fought for better contracts, and he’s delivered resources that make it safer for the work we do.
Adam gets how important our work is – and how dangerous it can be. He served as a U.S. Forest Service Seasonal Firefighter, digging fire lines shoulder-to-shoulder with firefighters as they fought blazing wildfires.
He had the backs of the strike-ready Local I-61 firefighters at Burbank Airport. And as a California Congressman, he’s seen firsthand how fires devastate communities.
After the Station Fire in 2009 which destroyed hundreds of structures and resulted in the death of two firefighters, Adam led the charge in Congress to investigate the cause of the fire, get resources to the Forest Service that they desperately needed, make policy changes, and invest in wildfire prevention.
One of those big policy changes was to change the Forest Service policy that banned night-flying helicopters for decades. Adam Schiff fought the policy and won, and then secured millions of federal dollars to buy night-flying helicopters to drop water on raging wildfires. Those night flights were credited with the quicker suppression of the Madre Fire four years after the Station Fire that destroyed 89 homes and killed two firefighters.
And when the Pentagon wanted to cut the FireGuard early detection and notification program, Adam Schiff fought like hell to keep it up and running.
We know that Adam Schiff will continue to fight for us in the U.S. Senate. That’s why the IAFF is standing beside him to be the next Senator from California. Vote Adam Schiff for U.S. Senate.
Why Does Adam Schiff Appear Twice On My Ballot?
There are two questions for the same U.S. Senate seat on the primary ballot with many of the same candidates.
Voters will be asked who should complete the “partial term” or “unexpired term” that expires in January 2025, which is temporarily being filled by Sen. Laphonza Butler after longtime Sen. Dianne Feinstein passed away last fall. The IAFF recommends Adam Schiff.
Your ballot will also include a question about who should be elected for the full 6-year term that begins in January 2025. On this question, the IAFF also recommends Adam Schiff.
Please vote for Adam Schiff on both questions about U.S. Senate.
