Daniel A. Terry Scholarship

Providing Hope from Tragedy for the Children of Fallen Firefighters

Every year, the California Fire Foundation offers financial assistance through the Daniel A. Terry Scholarship to help the children of fallen firefighters pursue their dream of attaining a college education.

This year, nine children of fallen firefighters will receive the $2,000 scholarship.

As part of the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to support the families of fallen firefighters the scholarship is now renewable for up to four years, totaling $8,000 in assistance. The expansion of financial assistance was made possible through the generous support of the California Firefighters Endowment.

“The Daniel A. Terry Scholarship has made a huge impact in my life,” said Richard Moorman, son of David Moorman, fallen firefighter with Los Angeles Fire Department. “It provided me with opportunity to attend EMT classes, purchase extra study materials and take the National EMT Exam so that I can achieve my dreams of a career in public safety.”

This scholarship gives the children of fallen firefighters a path to triumph through adversity and serves as a beacon of hope to build a bright future.

The 2020 application is now available for college-bound students until May 1, 2020. If you know a child of a fallen firefighter who is eligible send them to cafirefoundation.org/scholarships for information on how to apply.
