Stepping Up For Our Members

It is an absolute honor to represent the Locals of the 2nd District and I appreciate you allowing me this honor. The 2nd District has come together like I have never seen in my union career, and it is due to the efforts of every single individual Local coming together. GST Lima always talks about the importance of “UNITE, FIGHT, and ORGANIZE” and that is exactly what the 2nd District Locals have been doing.

At our last district meeting, we heard from Locals across the district dealing with issues in their jurisdictions. Some Locals discussed their need for assistance and without hesitation 2nd District Locals began to UNITE behind these Locals, so we could help them FIGHT. So, what does this mean? El Segundo Local 3682, we are all in to help you effect positive change in your city. Lompoc Firefighters Local 1906 we are all in to help you get the tools you need to help get a fair contract. I want to thank all the leaders in the 2nd District for supporting one another and always stepping up when assistance is needed.

Lastly, I would like to highlight the HISTORIC victory Santa Barbara County Firefighters recently had. Local 2046 spent many years working to bring ambulance contracting internally. AMR had a 40+ year stranglehold on the contract, until recently. Supervisors recently awarded all ambulance transportation to Santa Barbara County Fire, kicking AMR out of Santa Barbara County entirely. Tremendous work by all in making this happen!
