The choices we all make this November will pave the way for our firefighters and their families for decades. We must get involved to make sure our issues are at the top of the agenda and we have a seat at the table.

The reason is simple: Every decision that matters to the lives and livelihoods of firefighters is made by elected officials.

  • What you get in your contract is decided by your local elected officials.

  • What you get to ask for in your negotiations is decided in Sacramento, by the governor and state legislature.

  • It’s our duty at CPF to let you know who will stand up for firefighters on the issues affecting you on the job: Pay, benefits, working conditions, public safety.

These core issues are under constant attack. With so much at stake, we can’t afford to lay back: Firefighters make their presence felt.

We ask that you consider the recommendations on this list as you decide on your vote. Most importantly, don’t lay back. Register and vote by November 8th.

In Solidarity

Brian K. Rice
CPF President

Propositions

California Professional Firefighters has taken a position on one proposition appearing on the November ballot. CPF has no position on any other proposition in this election.

Proposition 29 - SUPPORT

WHAT IT DOES: Prop. 29 requires a doctor, certified nurse practitioner or physician assistant on site, and ensures that clinics can’t divert Medicare or Medi-Cal patients.

WHY IT MATTERS TO FIREFIGHTERS: Understaffed dialysis clinics create unnecessary calls to ER, adding stress to already overtaxed 9-1-1 emergency response system. Prop 29 promotes appropriate medical staffing, reducing ER calls that burden medical response.
