President Rice and 4th District Vice President Vince Wells welcomed Local 798 President Gracia, presenting a Certificate of Affiliation with CPF during a meeting of the Bay Area Firefighter Network.

San Francisco Fire Fighters Local 798 Joins CPF

One of the most storied IAFF locals with a long history of working to make life better for its members is once again a part of California Professional Firefighters.

Effective October 1, San Francisco Fire Fighters Local 798 is affiliated with California Professional Firefighters and the CPF 4th District.

San Francisco Fire Fighters Local 798 represents roughly 1,600 members of San Francisco Fire Department, which serves nearly 1.5 million citizens and answered over 149,000 calls for service in 2021 alone.

From their Community Paramedicine program and Disaster Preparedness to their year-round Toy Program and relentless work on firefighter cancer prevention and advocacy, Local 798 knows what it takes to fight for their members and the community. Even when faced with staffing challenges, their members continued to provide fast response times and a high level of service.

“We are very excited to have our brothers and sisters from San Francisco Fire Fighters Local 798 join our more than 30,000 members from across the state, said CPF President Brian Rice. “Local 798 has been protecting its members for over 70 years, and together, we will have an even stronger voice.”

The addition of San Francisco Fire Fighters Local 798 brings the total number of CPF affiliates to 177, representing nearly 34,000 professional firefighters across California.
